You are helping Dukes stay Dukes!

JMU nation, because of your generous gifts during May 2020, 130 Dukes* have remained JMU Dukes. Together you gave more than $750,000 to Madison for Keeps scholarships — and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has awarded these emergency funds to students, all because you came through in time.

You put forth an amazing effort on Giving Tuesday and inspired us to raise our sights from $500,000 to $750,000. Dukes challenged Dukes, and you responded with strength and compassion for students in need.

Because of you, these students and their families have peace of mind.

Although the May Challenge is over, you can still make a gift to support the JMU students who still need scholarship support.  The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented increase in scholarship requests that is expected to last for at least the next two academic years.

* UPDATE: The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships found that students’ need had increased significantly from earlier estimates, requiring the university to increase Madison for Keeps awards to an average of $5,769 per student. This has meant that 130 students, instead of 150 as first thought, are receiving awards from the funds raised during the May 2020 drive.
